A younger weaning baby should sit safely without any issues, but an older, more adventurous one may need that extra harness restraint. Without the tray, the Tripp Trapp allows your baby to sit comfortably at the table with the rest of the family, especially with the added cushion insert, which fits well and is padded nicely – although food may occasionally find its way to the floor. Start tightening the screws from bottom to top, beginning with the bottom metal bar, then the top metal bar and then the two back laminates. Besides the visual guidelines provided within the User Guide, we ask that you try to reassemble the chair with a set of specific guidelines in an effort to resolve the issues you are facing. At the same time, the Tripp Trapp® chair gives growing childen the opportunity to freely climb and descend, so they can develop balance, coordination and fine motor skills.

If there is still an issue with wobbling, it is possible that there may be an issue with some parts of the chair not being symmetrical enough, or the holes of the legs of the chair not being fully aligned in mirror image.

Even empty, it’s impossible to get the Tripp Trapp to rock, so there’s no danger of a child managing to do so. If you are unable to make out this information on your Tripp Trapp® chair, you can also measure the gap between the two back rest pieces: prior to May 2003, this measured approx. Tricky as the assembly is, the result is a highchair of reassuring stability, handling wriggly babies and uncooperative toddlers with equal ease.

The current ® Baby Set™ as well as the Newborn Set™ are compatible with all Tripp Trapp® chairs produced from May 2003. When tightening these screws, stop at the first sign of resistance while making sure the plates are still flush. The adjustability of the seat and footplate mean it will continue to fit your child as they grow, although adjusting both means a 10-minute effort involving the loosening and retightening of screws.
