If the dash cam does not appear as a drive on your PC, please press the reset button on the underside of your dash cam and try all the USB ports on your computer. The 412GW uses six-element sharp lenses, made up of 6 layers of glass, providing a 140° viewing angle able to capture the entire road ahead. In the event of an incident, the clear and crisp footage is perfect for providing instant evidence to support an insurance claim and proving you weren’t at fault. The 412GW works like any other dash camera, switching on when it gets power and then automatically recording short clips until full. It then loops over old footage, so it’s always on. If the built-in G sensor detects something unusual, such as hard braking or a bump, it will mark the footage to be saved, so it won’t be recorded over.

For the camera nerds, the 422GW has a better lens which has an f/1.3 aperture as opposed to f/1.6. Essentially, this means that more light enters the camera. That extra adjustment does have a big impact on the quality, especially under darker lighting. Next in the series 2 range is the 422GW. This dashcam doesn’t have a huge number of upgrades compared to the 322GW, however the one that does stand out is the camera quality. Plug your Dash Cam in. Ensure the cable is plugged directly into the Dash Cam and NOT via the mount. The 422GW has a camera resolution of 1440p, more commonly known as 2k. Whilst the camera does also offer 60fps, you will need to keep the resolution at 1080p to utilise this. The 4-metre cable is long enough to be trailed neatly through door seals and around the windscreen for a very tidy installation. The alternative is a hard-wired wiring set up; hooking the power mount into the ignition circuit and keeping the wires out of sight.

The GPS allows you to see where the footage was filmed which can be seen side by side with the footage itself, it also records speed which could help in any accidents or insurance claims. The addition of Bluetooth means the 322GW also has emergency response features. In case of an emergency, the camera can alert the emergency services and provide them with your location and other relevant details. There are safeguards in place to prevent accidental calls. We’ll start by looking at a comparison table of the main features and then review each one below. Series 2 Comparison Chart On the Dash Cam's screen you'll see a menu of 3 options. Please select 'Mass Storage' on the Dash Cam screen and then OK so that only that displays on the screen.

They follow the same pattern as the series 1 range, with 6 devices covering every segment of the market from the budget 122 up to the highest spec 622GW. It’s priced slightly higher than the Nextbase 312GW. That buys better image quality and a touch-sensitive interface, but other than that the two cameras are quite similar. So is the 412GW worth the extra?Nextbase have gone all out to make sure this device is worth upgrading, another feature is the extreme weather mode which uses sophisticated algorithms to improve visibility in fog or other bad weather. Regarding the recording lengths, the camera will record continuously in small segments (1,2, or 3 minutes). It will record these segments consecutively until the SD card is full. Then the oldest piece of footage will be deleted and the newest will be saved in it's place. This will continue looping and is called Continuous Overwriting. The Dash Cam does this automatically to allow for more footage to be recorded and the old, unnecessary footage to be deleted without manual intervention. However Protected footage is not overwritten in the same way. These can fill the card and reduce the quantity of normal footage saved on your SD card.
