Nura and the Immortal Palace is magical, atmospheric and fun - whilst never losing sight of its important themes of child poverty and exploitation. I do like what happens and how this book gives us a deeper insight into the world of Muslim folklore and the culture of the area too.

This is a great fantasy tale by MT Khan with an important life message for all 9-13 year olds, and adults too.The atmosphere is bright and colourful but the realistic undertones are not to be missed among the glitters. I came away with such a vivid image of every room and every piece of drool enticing food Khan described in a way that left me feeling like I'd watched a movie.

Throughout the world, there is Desi culture sprinkled in through the clothing, food, and childhood stories of the Jinn. Aru Shah and the End of Time meets Studio Ghibli’s Spirited Away in this mesmerizing portal fantasy that takes readers into the little-known world of Jinn.

It balances adventures and riddles to be solved with real conversations about child labor and about poverty.
